WINERIES

Langley’s newest award winning estate winery, Glenugie Winery, opened its doors on June 15, 2002.

Glenugie Winery is a family owned and operated estate winery and vineyard located in the countryside of the Fraser Valley. For 12 years Gary and Christina Tayler owned and maintained a 10 acre vineyard in Penticton BC that produced quality grapes. Gary Tayler is also the winemaker at Glenugie Winery.

Glenugie (pronounced Glen-youg-e) was the name of the family farm owned by the grandmother of Christina Tayler in Longside, Scotland. The farm was located in a glen by the river Ugie. The Scottish tartan of the Campbell of Argyll clan is featured on our wine label and the Scottish crests of family members’ clans are on display in the retail store at the winery.

In 1997, 5 acres of Pinot Noir cuttings were planted and the first harvest of the grapes occurred in October of 2000. The vineyard at Glenugie Winery produces only organically grown grapes. There are no pesticides or herbicides used on the grapes at any time. Sulphur, a natural element, is used on the grapes and manure is used for fertilisation. The vineyard is hand and machine weeded.

The winery is located at our vineyard and is a newly built 7,777 square foot Class A building. It is a state of the art structure made entirely of steel and concrete. It is enclosed with tweed giant brick and a steel roof.

There is a tasting room at the winery in addition to offices, a storage area and a winemaking area that holds the tanks, bottling line and other equipment.

All of the grapes used in the production of our wines are from vineyards in British Columbia. Glenugie Winery is a member of the Association of British Columbia Wine Growers. This is an organization representing member wineries that proudly produce fine wines made from 100% BC grown grapes and fruit.

Glenugie wines can be found in over 200 restaurants, beer & wine stores and specialty wine shops all over the lower mainland. Contact the winery at (604) 539-WINE (9463) to find the location nearest you.
